The Syrian Arab Republic signed the 1949 Geneva Convention, which is a legal requirement for visitors to have a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) in order to use a car and legally drive in Syria.

So that all visitors in Syria must ensure that their domestic driving license is understandable by local authorities in this foreign country where they wish to drive.

The IDP, which is valid for 1 year, proves that you hold a valid driver’s license in your country of residence and it certifies what category or categories of motor vehicles you are authorized to drive.

IDP helps ensure that every driver– holding it– is an authorized driver in order to improve road safety worldwide.

The IDP is recognized all over the world and is available in 10 different languages so that it helps overcome language barriers.

Similarly, Syrian nationals and residents who wish to drive abroad need to apply for an IDP via the Syrian automobile club (SAC) or the Syrian Automobile and Touring Club/Aleppo (SATC).

➢ Photo copy of Syrian ID

➢ Photo copy of Syrian valid driving license

➢ Photo copy of first two pages of Syrian Passport

➢ 2 personal photos
